1645 Charles I Tower Mint mm Sun over Eye Halfcrown with CAROLVS struck over CHRISTO !
Charles I (1625-1649), Tower mint under Parliament (1642 - 49), Halfcrown, Group III, type 3a3, mm. sun over eye / sun (S 2778; N 2213; Brooker - )
This truly incredible Halfcrown features what can only be described as one of the oddest engravers errors we have encountered. The obverse legend has CAROLVS struck over the word CHRISTO. This is one of only 2 known examples of the fascinating Tower Mint error and has great eye appeal.
