1547-51 Edward VI in the Name of Henry VIII Canterbury Mint Groat (S.2408)

£1,195

Edward VI. (1547-1553)  Groat In the name of Henry VIII. Canterbury mint. Struck 1547-1551. Crowned and mantled bust (Laker G) facing slightly right rev. Coat-of-arms over long cross fourchée with open annulets at ends ( S.2408; North 1875)

The Holbein-esque portrait of Henry VIII on this groat displays a highly emotive and powerful depiction of the King. Thus far the finest we have encountered for this issue , this also reflected by NGC's grading of this wonderful groat, as this is the finest example in a slab to date.
