Charles I (1625-1649), Chester mint (1644), Halfcrown, mm. three upright gerbs, horseman left, Chester plume in field, CHST below horse, oval scroll-garnished shield  (S.3130; N.2627/1; Bull 575 (47-2), this coin, Lyall B/2; SCBI Brooker 1111).

An extraordinary example of this very rare Provincial Halfcrown. This superb example formerly from the well known dealer Brian Dawson's own personal collection (bought by himself in 1975)  is exceptional, with a slightly bowed however very well spread flan from how it was made from the roller press. This furthermore the illustrated plate coin in Bull's the Halfcrowns of Charles I.
