James I (1603-1625), Third Coinage, Crown Gold Issues, Half-Laurel, 1624, Tower, fourth laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left, small ties, value X behind, rev.  long cross fleury over large crowned square-topped Royal shield with pointed base, bird-headed harp with six strings,  m.m. trefoil (Spink 2641A; North 2117; Schneider II, 92) weight 4.49 grams

An unfortunate graze to the king and a flan split in legend, otherwise a most pleasing portrait and Good Very Fine
