A really Good Very fine ,toned, extremely rare, with an excpetional provenance that appears to go back to the early 1900’s. This specimen is different to that of the Example illustrated on Sun & Anchor therefore a new unpublished die (?)

Ex Tisbury Collection

*Prior to this coin being in the H.A. Parsons colection, this was either in the John G. Murdoch collection sold in 1903 who had himself  acquired it from Henry Webb auction,or it was in the Hyman Montagu Collection who bought his specimen  from the Stewart Thorburn Collection. In the 1894 Henry Webb Sale it is noted that Hawkins was only aware at the time of 1 othe rexample.*
